TPS - CanTEST Exam Prep in West Ottawa
Studying and taking the CanTEST test in West Ottawa is not difficult, but you will likely have to get a tutor because few if any centers offer it as a course.
CanTEST is a very viable option and should be considered carefully as an alternative to IELTS, TOEFL and CAEL. A few point I'd like to make are:
1) Most of the self-study material is offered only by CanTEST. It is rather easy to exhaust all their material, spend a lot and then still not be sure of your level.
2) There are a number advantages and disadvantages of this test and it is worth it to go through the test features on the PDF information on the official site
3) It is important that the test you take be a measure of how well you can cope with university study material. CanTEST has been put together with authentic tasks using Canadian material and Canadian accents.
4) CanTEST does give a speaking test face to face and at a total price of about $250, it is not a bad deal
5) Sometimes you can get a fairer assessment through a smaller but professional testing center. Your assessment may be less rushed and assessor may be more qualified.

Online Tutoring
Online tutoring is a viable option but be sure to check that there is a testing center near where you live. If you are from Ottawa or Toronto you can take the CanTEST but look at the dates because the test is run rather infrequently. Check the
Home Tutoring
Home tutoring is not just the better option, it may be actually the only option when it comes to CAnTEST since I cannot find any specific program in it. If you are not familiar with what a course might demand from you, look through the CanTEST courses and registration page if you are sure it fits your needs.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Sometimes, people feel more comfortable studying outside their homes, but still need a tailor-made program. In this case, tutorials can be arranged whereby students and tutors can meet at any nearby library. To do this through TPS, please send in a request.
Taking Classes
If you would like to take group classes, your best option is to take the English Intensive program at the University of Ottawa as it seems to be very academically oriented with its range of EAP courses. You can also take the 64 week EAP program at Algonquin College
Self-Study
Self-study help is pretty much contained to two resources offered by the University of Ottawa under its preparation materials page but another excellent resource is a series of links from the University of Price Edward Island on CanTEST. separated in the four sub-skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Test Taking
You will have to travel to town into the University of Ottawa to take the CanTEST unless you are willing to travel as far away as to Toronto. Check my page on locations, dates, fees, cancellations, and re-evaluation
