Pre-Speaking Tips
Topic: Describe a sporting event you enjoyed watching. "Okay, so I’m gonna talk about this insane soccer game One of the most exciting sporting events I’ve ever watched was the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France Honestly? I don’t even watch soccer that much, I’m not usually a huge soccer fan but my friend kept saying, ‘Dude, you HAVE to see this!’ So I grabbed some snacks, sat on my couch, and... wow. Just wow, I go completely absorbed in the match and we were all screaming by the end!. Let me describe the key moments if I can remember. Well, as I recall in the first half, Argentina was killing it. Messi scored this smooth penalty—like, it was no sweat for him. Then his teammate Di María made it 2-0, and I’m thinking, ‘Game over, right?’ But nah. ! But then, France fought back. Outta nowhere, France’s star Mbappé goes supernova. He scores two goals in, like, two minutes! My jaw literally dropped and my friend was screaming, ‘NO WAY!’ Then it went to extra time. Messi taps in another goal, and I’m like, ‘Okay, NOW it’s over.’ NOPE. Mbappé gets his third goal to make it a hat trick – time runs out leading to a penalty shootout. At this point, my heart’s racing., and Argentina’s goalie saves two shots. When they won, Messi fell to his knees crying. This was Messi’s last chance to win a World Cup, and seeing him cry after winning made me emotional too. Why’d I love it so much? First, the rollercoaster vibe. One team’s up, then down, then up again—like a movie. Second, the players. Messi’s this tiny genius, Mbappé’s a lightning bolt. You could see how much it meant to them. Third, the crowd atmosphere. Fans crying, hugging strangers... that’s real passion, I think. Funny thing? I used to think soccer was kinda boring—just guys running around. But after this? I get it. The strategy hit me later. Like, Argentina’s coach subbed in fresh legs for penalties. Smart! And Mbappé’s third goal? The way he faked out the defender.. Next World Cup, I’m throwing a party. Maybe I’ll buy a jersey—though I’d look like a bandwagon fan. ‘Oh yeah, I’ve ALWAYS loved soccer... since that one game in 2022.’ So yeah, that’s my story. It wasn’t just a game—it was, like, a pure emotional journey. Changed how I see sports. And hey, if I could get hooked into it, maybe there’s hope for anyone!"
