How do I decide if MELAB is best for me?

I cannot say which is the best for you because it depends s much on your situation. What is important? Here are a number of the issues you can consider:
1. Cost: If you leave off the speaking test, MELAB is the 2nd cheapest
2. Speed: If you are trying to get fast results, MELAB is reasonable at 10 days but nothing beats PTE at 5 days
3. Difficulty: It is hard to say but MELAB is difficult in including grammar and vocabulary and it has quite a tough listening test
4. Self Study: MELAB provides wuite a few free sample tests, although the clear winner for self study has to be TOEFL with IELTS coming a clse second.
5. Recognition: MELAB is well accepted as an Enlgish proficiency requirement coming third after IELTS and TOEFL.

Home Tutoring
If you’d prefer to study at home, with a tailor-made program, please check the MELAB Tutor Ottawa page for availability. Choosing this instead of a group class is usually the best option since students need individualized help with the ACT test and classroom teaching often fails to provide this to the student's best advantage.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Many students, particularly those living in homestay arrangements prefer if the tutorial is outside of the home. This can be set up. You can request to do the class in a public Library in Ottawa or in a community centre. Often there are some good spots at the University of Ottawa campus or even at a museum. Contact us if this is your situation and we can get it arranged.
Self-Study
Self-studying MELAB is not as difficult as it seems as there is no shortage of free resources. First exhaust all the free sample tests on the official MELAB website. Then, you can purchase some of the additional MELAB resources if you feel you need them may wish to stop off is at any of the public libraries in Ottawa or any University library like University of Ottawa, see what you like and then see if it can be ordered on Amazon under 'MELAB prep'.
Online Study
Youtube has a number of free resources and the best ones are those put out by CAMLA which gives a number of youtube samples of the test.
