Edmonton hosts several reputable language schools and institutions, such as the University of Alberta and NorQuest College, which provide structured TOEFL preparation courses. Home Tutoring
TOEFL offers many different ways to self-study but it is difficult to do so and classes can be frustrating because it is a test that needs close supervision and tailor made training. If you would prefer a comfortable and efficient way to study it in comfort, please visit the TOEFL Tutor Edmonton page and find out what is available. If you are unfamiliar with what a TOEFL course involves, browse through the TOEFL courses and go to the registration page if you believe it suits your needs.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Often, people feel more comfortable studying outside their homes, but still with a one on one arrangement and custom-made course. Tutorials can be set up with students and tutors meeting at any nearby public library in Edmonton or a community center in Edmonton To do this through TPS, please send in a request.
Self-Study
Self-studying TOEFL is not easy although finding resources. The two best textbooks are the Official ETS Guide , the Kaplan iBT TOEFL, Princeton Review's Cracking the TOEFL iBT , the Cambridge Preparation for the TOEFL Test and finally Barron's TOEFL iBT. You can order them more cheaply at Amazon under TOEFL Textbooks. Before you invest heavily try stopping at the public libraries in Edmonton (contains several TOEFL books). If you can, buy your TOEFL textbooks overseas as they are much cheaper. Make sure you get iBT resources and if doing practice tests, you will need software to practice it since the test is done on the computer; practicing it on paper is practically useless.
Test Taking
There is just one testing center in Edmonton. The location of the TOEFL testing centers as well as testing times and dates are posted on this site. I have posted results as well. The test is $245. There is only the iBT test being offered, and if you have any disabilities, you can let ETS know about this. Look over the ETS website to register for your test online.
