TPS - Finding a TOEFL Tutor in Vancouver

Online Tutoring:
Our online TOEFL tutoring offers flexible scheduling, with sessions available virtually anytime between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm ET. If you are in Vancouver, please note that you are 3 hours behind ET.

Home Tutoring:
For home tutoring, we recommend an initial free meeting with the tutor to discuss your needs and assess your current level. This consultation is followed by a formal, full-length TOEFL simulation test, which will be billed at the regular rate. After the first session, payment for the next four lessons is required in advance.
All lessons are 2 hours long and are priced at 60perhour,or60perhour,or120 per session. If additional students join the same session, the rate is $15 per hour for each extra student

What to Discuss During your Meeting with the Tutor

It’s helpful to prepare a few key points to discuss with your tutor during the first meeting. This will ensure your sessions are tailored to your needs. Here are some topics to consider:

1. Your Goal: Different institutions have varying TOEFL score requirements. Are you aiming for an 80, 90, or another specific score? Clearly communicating your target will help the tutor focus on achieving your desired result.
   
2. Strengths and Weaknesses: Reflect on your abilities in the four TOEFL sub-skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing). Sharing this information will allow the tutor to create a personalized study plan.
   
3. Availability: Have a few time options ready for your sessions. While your preferred time may be available, it’s good to have alternatives in case of scheduling conflicts.
   
4. Self-Study Commitment: Be honest about how much time you can dedicate to self-study outside of tutoring sessions. Whether it’s a few hours a week or none at all, communicating this will help the tutor set realistic expectations and adjust the lesson plan accordingly.
