Home Tutoring
If you’d prefer to study at home, with a tailor-made program, please check the ACT Tutor Ottawa page for availability. Choosing this instead of a group class is usually the best option since students need individualized help with the ACT test and classroom teaching often fails to provide this to the student's best advantage.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Many students, particularly those living in homestay arrangements prefer if the tutorial is outside of the home. Tutorials can be set up at any public Library in Ottawa or in a community centre. Often there are some good spots at the University of Ottawa campus. Send us a request and we’ll set it up for you.
Self-Study
Self-studying ACT is possible and although it is not as easy as SAT, there is no shortage of free resources. I have always believed that your first stop should be at any of the public libraries with a search under ACT. You can buy a number of ACT books at Chapters
but to save a high price, see what you like and then see if it can be ordered on Amazon under 'ACT prep'. The ones I would personally recommend are the “Cracking the ACT Premium Edition with 8 Practice Tests and DVD, 2015” by the Princeton Review (on amazon)
It's 8 practice tests are probably the most authentic. However, if you want advice that is a bit more specific and not filled with general banal advice that you already know, you may try “The Real ACT, 3rd Edition” on Amazon. Finally, you would be best to add the Kaplan one to your list called “Kaplan ACT Premier 2016 with 8 Practice Tests: Personalized Feedback + Book + Online + DVD” on amazon. Like the Princeton book, it has 8 practice tests but it just seems a bit harder to navigate.

Online Study
Prep scholar gives reasonable quality practice tests that range from 2005-2015. Another place worth looking at is powerscore has pdfs containing practice tests and tips/tricks. It also has grade 8-9 test. Another one that I like is the Mcgraw Hill Practice Plus includes a practice test in game format. Jim Kuhner runs you through a few questions from every subject on the ACT in this Kuhner youtube video. Youtube channel Textbook Tactics includes a playlist of guides and walkthroughs for passages on each subject in the ACT. One more that seemed to be put together with some seriousness is by bestactprep.org
Test Taking
There are no test centers in Ottawa . The closest is at Bishop's College School Sherbrooke, Quebec , so please look at the locations, dates and fees and register early at the official ACT test
