How do I know the Pearson PTE Academic test is right for me?
There are a number of issues that you can consider but the most important thing to remember is that you do have other options so the key issue is what your needs, strengths and weaknesses are. Consider:
1. Do I need fast results for a university application?
If the answer is yes, you may consider this test carefully because it promises to mark and send back your results in only 5 days
2. Am I a bit weaker in reading than other sub-skills?
If the answer is yes, this test may be helpful since the reading section is not as long and does not involve so many long passages.
3. Am I ok with a computer speaking test?
If you do not get to nervous speaking to a computer, then this as well as the other tests such as TOEFL and CAEL should be considered.
4. Is listening or writing strong points for me?
If either are you may find PTE a good choice since the listening test is quite heavy and the writing test is on a very fast paced time limit
5. Am I planning to go to McGill or Concordia?
If yes, you may find this test perfect, since it is accepted there but not at the University of Ottawa or Carleton University

Home Tutoring
If you’d prefer to study at home, with a tailor-made program, please check the PTE Tutor Ottawa page for availability. Choosing this instead of a group class is usually the best option since students need individualized help with the ACT test and classroom teaching often fails to provide this to the student's best advantage.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Many students, particularly those living in homestay arrangements prefer if the tutorial is outside of the home.You can request to do the class in a public Library in Ottawa or in a community centre. Often there are some good spots at the University of Ottawa campus or even at a museum. Contact us if this is your situation and we can get it arranged.
Self-Study
Self-studying Pearson PTE Academic is much easier than CAEL or CanTEST, and although it is not as easy as IELTS or TOEFL, Pearson does offer quite a bit on its website quite affordably. First browse through all that is free on the official website where you can go through the PTE test format a preparation path practice or download a free practice test. After that you can buy a full set of 2 scored practice tests and practice questions in what the website calls the "Gold TEST Preparation Kit for $59.99. If you need even more, there is a site that offers a number of course books by Pearson. Often, instead of buying directly from Pearson, you might want to go directly on Amazon under Pearson PTE.
Online Study
Youtube offers quite a bit on the Pearson PTE test. I haven't gone through them all but would probably start with the ones offered by PearsonPTE first
Test Taking
There is place that offers the PTE test in Ottawa at Pearson Professional Centres on Holland Avenue so you' don't have to take the ride up to Montreal.
