IELTS Test Locations in Edmonton
There are 8 test locations from 4 organizations (British Council, IDP, Canada College, NAIT) in the Edmonton area. To check dates and times, go to the IELTS Edmonton dates and times. To check dates and times officially, follow the links in one or more of the above sites or go to the official IELTS site.
The official page for locations, dates and times is the official IELTS.org site, but you can register at the various centers as well, unlike with SAT, SSAT and TOEFL tests.
Some people register for two tests as insurance, of course at $320 per test this is expensive insurance to be sure.
If you find it difficult to book at any of the Edmonton locations you can consider booking a bit further out in Calgary. The IELTS test is slightly more expensive but may be an option if everything is booked up in Edmonton. If Calgary is also booked up, and it is the Academic Module test that you must take, you can try the new online test by IDP

Check to see that the organization that you are applying to will accept IELTS Online. So far, the IETS online test is only offered in the Academic Module so it will not be accepted for immigration purposes.
Also, look over the very strict protocols about how you are positioned during the test. If you are in a home where potential distractions may cause you to shift your head you can be disqualified without recourse. Many test takers find it hard to keep your eyes fixed to the screen (you are not allowed to look away). Moreover, If you find taking notes a useful strategy you should know that you are not allowed look down and make notes.
The speaking test is face to face with a real person but down on a media platform similar to Zoom.
