The CELPIP test is popular option to IELTS and more options for taking the test are arising (there are 3 now in Edmonton) but in Edmonton courses, and self-study may have more limited choice of resources and options for class studies. Check the official website home page and see what free options there are. For example currently there is an offer if you joining a research study group to get a free test and some free podcasts
The most efficient and customized way of studying CELPIP is in your home, one on one with your tutor. Browse the CELPIP Tutor in Edmonton and check availability. It is a good idea, however, to first go through the CELPIP courses page find out what you will be involved with, and if you are willing to make the commitment go to the registration page to ensure a class.
Outside of the Home Tutoring
Many prefer studying a tailor-made course outside of the home for various reasons. This is not difficult to arrange and tutorials are possible at various locations with private rooms. Send us a request if you would prefer this option and we will get it arranged immediately.
It is somewhat difficult to buy CELPIP books since it is a new test and there are restrictions as to what a publisher can offer so most are offered through Paragon Testing such as the CELPIP Focus books but there are a few outside organizations, such as ones offered by Mad English TV (I have no idea as to the quality of these textbooks so buyer beware). To learn about the test itself, visit the TPS page of the CELPIP exam for study tips, and a blog full of strategies, skills and topics and recent exams. Paragon provides would-be test takers with an official website with some sample tests but you do have to pay for them.
Taking CELPIP group classes is possible in Edmonton, most offered by the same organizations that give the test but the more reputable ones are offered by the official CELPIP Network. They are professional and reliable programs that go through a lot of scrutiny by Paragon Testing but they are very long and expensive, so ensure you enrol quite a bit of time ahead of your test date.
There are 3 places to take the CELPIP test in Edmonton, namely BITTS (Prometric Testing), Concordia University of Edmonton and English Testing Canada (ETC). I have posted specific locations with maps, addresses, contacts and fees but go directly to the official CELPIP test to confirm as well or to do your registering.
