TPS Tip
Type 4: Listen and Type:
Concentrating on content words.
In the listen and type questions you will have a sentence and chances are you will find that there will be words you cannot catch. It is important to remember two key points
1. The ending words are harder to remember
2. Content words connect together that your brain can often work out
What this means is that you can try the strategy of writing down any content words you hear and especially concentrate on the last ones. You can play it again twice so often you'll find it easier to fill in the rest if all the content words are already there. Sometimes the sentences are long but you can play the audio clip three times.
An alternative strategy is to wok in halves by trying to get the first half the first time you hear the clip, and then do the second part the second time you play it and the third time just checking to make sure you have got it correct.
Whatever strategy your prefer, it is probably always wise to do the two replays, even when you feel comfortable.
