TPS - CAEL Tips

There is a page devoted to giving CAEL test takers some general advice about how to prepare on the official CAEL website under test preparation. One thing stressed is that the CAEL test is modeled around actual university activity so if you begin by taking notes to lectures or readings, you are in essence preparing for CAEL.

CAEL study materials are promoted here promoted here from their online store and what they contain. However they also show some free online information sessions and a reading and listening sample test and writing test test as well as a sample oral sample test with several sound files.

Some YouTube videos by Trent University as well as a few by Academic Noon are worth going through.

CAEL Tip #2

Making quan​titative specific goals

We are goal-driven creatures that rely on all our various career aims to motivate ourselves beyond our current condition. Studying any standardized test is frustrating and we need goals to help us through the hardest moments.

If you, as most students enrolled in a standardized test do, define your goal as merely passing the test you may find this not particularly motivating. It may be far better to have more quantifiable goals. 

For example, how many new words are you targeting? Even if you do not make your broader goal of reaching entrance level requirement , you will have improved if your specific targets such as 20 essays or 10 new passages in reading are reached
