Features
- Students are required to use the Princeton 2022 books
- This program is intensive and somewhat time consuming. Please reflect on your schedule and where self study and writings can be managed
- Students can also use other books as a supplement
- In the AP Literature & Composition Section 2 Question 2 is done before Question 1 because poetry is kept together
- All compositions are marked and assessed
- Students must be prepared to to do multiple draft rewrites of essays

1. Students study test questions that derive from other tests such as OSSLT, ISEE and SSAT which match the CAT4 types, We do not provide CAT 4 or CAT 5 practice tests. Practice tests are a composite of question types connected to CAT. However, tutors do not use actual CAT practice tests as this is forbidden.
2. The whole test is of MCQ questions 3. Students are additionally given literary test questions and spelling questions 4. Students are given a final test and an evaluation 5. Practice tests, lecture slides and homework are sent in advance after the second lesson 6. A Book List will be provided for recommended novels for students to read throughout the course and beyond. Reading for pleasure is crucial. The teacher will ask for summaries throughout the program 7. 150 Question Math Test will be given to students. Form it the students can decide if math tutorials are necessary. 8. Practice Tests from various non-CAT 4 & 5 sources will be given as long as the questions match those found in CAT 4 or CAT 5 |

- Detail selection, literary tools. Using specific parts of a creative writing and adding description to enhance the mood and imagery
IB Extended Essay Only
Goals of Course:
1. To be familiar with the process of doing a complete EE
2. To develop the skills for composing a good research question 3. To explore the skills of planning and develop the awareness of realistically what can be included 4. To ensure students know how to pursue questions in depth in the body sections of the EE 5. To ensure students understand the strict requirements of the EE writing conventions 6. To improve students research skills and in particular the variety of sources that can be used 7. To sharpen a student's self critical capacities with respect to the limitations and misdirections of the project so that the student will know what to avoid in the real project 6. To give students the ability to write a professional abstract To improve the student's to present referencing and in-test citations |
Features:
- Students will be required to do an EE of up to 5000 words. It is a long and difficult process so there must be a willingness to go through the complete project
- The tutor will act as the student's supervisor - The EE will be marked in parts but after the first draft is completed it will be heavily edited using a student led approach - Students may be expected to look for outside sources beyond those online. The student may be required to ask teachers, scientists, parents or organizations for expertise. - Exemplary Models will be provided. The course follows an approach that looks at models and makes observations about what makes them exemplary works - Students should choose an EE topic that they are genuinely interested in pursuing further - A student can use and develop further the EE done in the tutorial for the actual one but bear in mind that the actual supervisor on grade 12 will have different standards so a student must be willing to adjust - Many parts such as the Abstract, title page and introduction will need to be revised at the end - The EE will typically be over the word limit so part of the skill building will be in the editing process to bring it to word limit |
