TPS - CAEL Exam Prep in West Ottawa
Ottawa has many study opportunities for CAEL but . The CAEL test lends itself to home tutoring more than other tests for the following reasons:
Issues unique to CAEL
1) What is my goal
On the surface, this issue seems pretty easy. You want a passing score of 60 or 70 to get into most universities (U of Ottawa is 60, Carleton is 70)b but since there is a lot of work in the process, the issue may be more complex than you think.
CAEL along with CanTEST are both Canadian made tests and newer ones. They have tried to create materials that imitate real life situations in University. This means that the prcess of studying for these tests is also a process of preparing for university life.
2. How well do I understand the advantages and disadvantage of the test?
CAEL has glaring positives and negatives. The essential issue is - do you feel you can forgoe some of the registration and self study practice advantages of the more established tests for the cost and authenticity advantages of CAEL?
3. What is my timeline?
CAEL does not have many testing times and it is a tough test to prepare for. However, it is a very worthwhile test to get prepared for but check your time commitments.
4. Is cost important to me?
You can save a lot of money by choosing this test over the others. However, it is difficult to get many free self-study resources. Check out my free practice page

Home Tutoring

Outside of the Home Tutoring
An alternative to home tutoring is one on one outside the home. If this is your preference, let us know and we’ll get this arranged whereby a private study room can be booked at a local library or community center.
Taking Classes
There are not as many learning centers in Ottawa running CAEL but there are a number of centers that run them, especially many near . Check the quality of the program carefully, especially if it has not been taught before by teachers because the CAEL test is a challenging exam that and the vocabulary demands of it can be very challenging so do ensure that the teacher is experienced with it.
Self-Study
Self-study resources are growing with CAEL but unfortunately they are growing under only one organization - the same one that developed the test (ie Paragon Testing).. Many CAEL study guides and information, some of it free and others you must pay for, can be found in two parts of the official site; one, being the site for test preparation; the other being the site for products. It is important to use up all that is free and for all other study material, you can decide what you need. However, if you are hiring a tutor, do not go through the practice test until you meet with the tutor. You can find a CAEL assessment guide at the public libraries in Ottawa .
