Finding a CELPIP Tutor in Calgary
Online tutoring is flexible for times and can be placed virtually anytime from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm ET. You need to download Skype and for much of the lesson you will be on share screen mode. A free consultation is usually done by Zoom.
CELPIP home tutoring lessons involve a free consultation at the beginning to determine needs and level. A more extensive test at the beginning can be arranged, however it will be billed according to the rate of a regular class. If a full extensive assessment is needed, you may request one at the beginning, billed at the same rate as a regular lesson.
Every class is a minimum of 2 hours at $60/hr or $120/lesson and involves a free consultation at the start to find out needs and level. Each additional student is $15/hr. After the first class, 4 subsequent classes must be paid in advance.
If you require a full-fledged level test in CELPIP, this can be arranged but it will be billed according to the regular rate.

Issues to Discuss
The short meeting with the tutor is a useful one for you and a few things are advised
- Do not be afraid to ask qualifications of the tutor. After all, you are paying for quality so demand proof of qualifications.
- Do mention why you are taking the test. There are 2 types of tests - CELPIP General (G), CELPIP General Listening and Speaking (G L&S) . Are you taking CELPIP for PR application (G), citizenship (G L&S), or work (G)? These purposes will determine which CELPIP you take.
- Share your knowledge of the test and your strengths and weaknesses with the tutor. You can try some simulation exams of CELPIP to determine this.
- Have it decided what times you are available. This is because what may be open on one day may not be on another.

Paragon Testing sells 5 sample tests but for free online stuff on CELPIP, check out our CELPIP exam page and get information on study tips, links to practice exams and information on recent exams. I have a page of CELPIP practice exam links as well as external links to YouTube channels such as CAREERAXIS and Fast Track ESL. These are not brilliant sites and I'd ignore most of the advice on them but they do offer additional practice tests, and when you consider the price of the Paragon Testing practice tests, every bit extra you can get for no cost becomes important.
