CAT 4 & CAT 5 Test Locations in Ottawa-Gatineau

CAT 4 & 5 Test Locations and Dates

 Five schools require it in Ottawa or have required it in the past.
1. Ashbury College   (this year held the CAT 5)
2. Elmwood, Ottawa (this year held CAT 4/5 exam)
3. Academie de la Capitale (May require it but I am not sure)
2. Colonel Bye (cancelled in 2020-2023 but held CAT 4 in 2019)
3. Merivale Secondary School (cancelled in 2020-2023 but held CAT 4 in 2019)

 

Ashbury College

Ashbury College is a private school that also runs an IB program. The application process includes either the SSAT or CAT exam. Usually it is held form October to November and is a scaled down version of the CAT test

Elmwood School

Elmwood School is an all girls private school that also runs an IB Diploma Program. In the past, they have required a CAT exam or SSAT.

Capital Academy

Capital Academy is another private school that offer the IB program. I am not sure of they require the CAT test or SSAT or either.

​Registering for the CAT 4 & CAT 5 Test in Ottawa and Gatineau

 The CAT 4 & CAT 5 test is done as part of your IB application. In the case of the IB program at Ashbury College, the applicant can take either CAT 5 or SSAT.

​Need an CAT 4 or CAT 5 Tutor in Ottawa or Gatineau?

If you need a tutor, the important thing to do first is determine whether  your child really wants to enrol in IB. There are a number of considerations:

1. There are considerably more assignments in IB
2. IB demands good time management
3. Grades are converted to a new system. Often good grades become just average achievements in IB
4. IB is a good training ground particularly for students interested in joining the social sciences and humanities. often STEM students find alternative programs
5. It is very difficult for students that are still emerging English learners to enter IB, since there are quite demanding language requirements.
